Library

Malankara Syrian Orthodox Theological Seminary Library has, at present a collection of 50,000 volumes. This consists of books, Thesis, Souvenirs and bound volumes of periodicals. It also has a collection of manuscripts, Xerox copies, maps, charts and CD collections. The major interest of this library is the disciplines of Old Testaments, New Testaments, Theology, Church History, Liturgy, Religions and Syriac Language. A good majority of the books in this library are in English. Malayalam books come next in number. There are also many books in Syriac, Greek, Germen, Arabic and Latin. The library has different sections namely, Stack, Reference Library, Temporary Reference, Digital Library and Reading Room. All the materials in the library are scientifically classified and catalogued. It is arranged in various sections using the 'Dewey Decimal Classification system.




Here the Books are arranged for the purpose of lending.(Second Floor)
Books under this section can be used within in the Reference room only. Reference Book cannot be issued under any circumstances. (First Floor)
Books under this section can be issue after 10.00 pm by the Students Librarians and it should be returned to the library before 9.15 am of the next working day. (First Floor)
It is in the center of the first floor library building. Here the News Papers and magazines will displays. Readers are requested to use the volumes only on that particular place. (First Floor)
Books of Rev. Dr. Kurian Corepiscopa Kaniamparambil and Prof. Dr. M. P. Joseph are displayed in this section. Students can use those books only in that place which is meant for it. Those books cannot be issued under any circumstances. It locates in the east end of the second floor library.
It is connected with the computer lab. Those who wish to use the CD's or DVD's of the Digital Library should obtain a prior permission either from the Staff Librarian, or from the Librarian and a faculty member. (First Floor)

Library occupies an important place in the academic life of the students. Therefore it is appropriate that students are made aware of its proper utilization. The rules provided below are necessary to obtain the best use of the library facilities:- Time spent in the library should be utilized exclusively for reading & learning. Silence should be maintained in the library at all times. Books, Magazines, Periodicals, etc., should be handled with utmost care and after use, they should be replaced in the respective places. Any damage caused to the books or furniture will have to be compensated by the students concerned. Please see that electricity is not unnecessarily wasted. Personal belongings are not permitted in the library. Books will be issued to students only upon the presentation of their borrowing card. All users of the library will be subject to a security check while leaving the library. No visitors will be allowed to enter the reference room & stack room without the permission of the library staff.
